What can a legacy or inheritance achieve?

An example: In developing countries like Malawi, children are trapped in a vicious circle from birth onwards that makes it difficult for them to escape poverty and underdevelopment. This vicious circle can only be broken if the right interventions are made for each child at the right time. In an ongoing project, the pilot phase of which was financed by a legacy from Paul Karrer, researchers at the Center for Child Well-being and Development are collecting data on biomarkers of children and on the social contacts of parents and children. It is the first project to use artificial intelligence to enable real-time program evaluation and personalization across multiple dimensions of child development in poor countries.
