Legacies and bequests

According to the credo “Pioneering Economics,” our researchers are constantly pushing the boundaries of economic thinking in order to improve our social and economic life and to tackle today’s five major challenges. All these issues cannot be solved overnight; they take time.

With your philanthropic commitment in the form of a bequest, you support projects, professorships, and young talents and make an important contribution to ensuring that the most urgent challenges facing our world can be tackled with scientifically sound knowledge and that solutions can be put in place. So that everyone, especially the next generation, can benefit from the research results and live in a functioning economic and social system.

Factsheet Legacies

Design a piece of the future according to your ideas

What do you stand for? In which areas do you want to make a difference? Which research topics, which values are close to your heart? With a testamentary disposition you can be sure that your ideas for the future will be put into practice. Because with a bequest, you have the assurance that your legacy will one day be used as you see fit.

If you would like to include the Department of Economics of the University of Zurich in your will, please name the Excellence Foundation as a beneficiary of your testamentary disposition. This is how you can ensure that your legacy or inheritance benefits the Department of Economics. Your legacy can be dedicated to a specific project of your choice, or it can be used for no specific purpose. There is also the option of setting up personal named or themed funds. All important questions and answers about legacies and bequests can be found here.

The next step

Inheriting or bequeathing is a very personal and emotional topic. We are happy to discuss your wishes and intentions with you. We cannot offer legal or financial advice, but we will be happy to help you put your ideas into practice. Should you wish to do so, we will be happy to put you in touch with an independent inheritance law specialist. Please let us know how you would like us to contact you.

If you have already considered the Excellence Foundation or are planning to take this step, we would be pleased to hear from you. Because only then can we thank you and keep you informed about the work and projects of the Department of Economics.

Your support counts

Do you have questions or would you like individual advice on how to support the Department of Economics with a bequest? We are happy to help you.
